United Nations General Assembly (UNGA)

The General Assembly (GA) is the main deliberative organ of the UN. Decisions on important questions, such as those on peace and security, admission of new members and budgetary matters, require a two-thirds majority. Decisions on other questions are by simple majority. Each country has one vote.  Some Member States in arrear of payment may be granted the right to vote.

Dates:

September 17 - Opening of the 68th session

September 23 - High-level Meeting of the General Assembly on the realization of the Millennium Development Goals and other internationally agreed development goals for persons with disabilities.

September 24 - General debate of the sixty-eigth session of the General Assembly.

September 25 - Special event in 2013 to follow up efforts made towards achieving the Millennium Development Goals

September 26 - High-level meeting of the General Assembly on nuclear disarmament.
