Fantastic is all respects. Beautiful building, clean, updated rooms. Nice bed and bathrooms. Nice staircases even for those that appreciate stairs over elevators (me!). Everyone was pleasant, professional and welcoming. Vouchers at mille-feuille will not go unused - a top notch little cafe/bakery. Easy walk to park (central or riverside), museums, restaurants, etc. Can't say enough.

One of the much ...

One of the much better boutique hotels in the City. The lobby and bar area (and facade) were Art Nouveau with originally sized elevators (ie, small), but all worked well and quickly. Ask for a mini fridge and make sure your closet has an iron and board, if needed. $10 coupons for the breakfast place next door or drinks at the bar. CLASSIC BIG BAND AND JAZZ MUSIC OVER THE SPEAKERS! Bell boys are also very helpful, as was the front desk staff. Rooms are clean with enough space to store your luggage. I had a king room of approximately 250 sq. feet, walk in shower, desk, and small closet. No restaurant or room service, but located in a nice, quiet neighborhood with plenty of food choices and near Central Park (walking distance). For the price, this is my new go to hotel in the City.

Architecture & Decor: The ...

Architecture & Decor: The building is stunning and beautifully decorated. Location: Absolutely fantastic— close to shops, two subway stations and very safe neighboor. The Staff: Everyone was welcoming. The Mille Feuille Bakery: Having delicious pastries and a proper short espresso right next door was perfect for breakfast. Cleanliness: All common areas and my room were always clean and smelled wonderful. Room Observations: Very comfortable bed and good shower pressure. The room was a bit on the small side (typical for historic NYC hotels). The TV placement was slightly awkward as it wasn't directly in front of the bed. A Tip for Future Guests: The Walking Tour I highly recommend the walking tour with Patrick—it was excellent! However, there was a bit of a communication gap regarding registration: the lady at the reception told me I didn’t need to sign up in advance. On the day after, the guide was surprised I hadn’t registered, and there seemed to be a misunderstanding between the hotel and the tour company. Advice: Even if you're told it isn't necessary, sign up in advance just to be safe.

Lovely stay at the ...

Lovely stay at the Bellclaire 4/12-4/15, though our flight was delayed ~13 hours so we essentially lost a day in the city. I have to start with all of the staff we interacted with were absolutely phenomenal, from the door staff to the front desk and the bar staff. Everyone was exceptionally welcoming, helpful and at the same time professional. The hotel itself is a bit aged but still has a wonderful character. The room was mostly good, cleaning could have been slightly better and a shower wand would have been appreciated but still a comfortable bed and plenty of space. Location is unparalleled with most of the major museums within 15 minutes walking, times square and Broadway a short 45 minute hike or 15 minute subway ride. The meal vouchers really increase the value of this place, while the attached cafe was limited of gluten free options they seemed to have some pretty decent coffee. The Allure was great as well when open, especially with Aaron brightening up the space. From what I understand the kitchen was not staffed at the time of our visit, would really like to see some tapas or other small plates available.
