I would only recommend this place if you’re not paying an average of $400+ a night. The amenities and hotel do not match that price. When choosing a place to stay it was between The Wallace a block over and The Belleclaire. I wish I would have chose the Wallace as the price difference wasn’t significant. I’ll start off with the positives. The location is fantastic! We loved how residential and quiet the area felt. The subway station was a short walk away to get anywhere in the city. The proximity to Central Park, The Met, and The Natural History Museum were ideal. Other than that, there is no coffee or tea in the rooms. The website advertises free breakfast as an upgrade, but you’re given a $10 voucher to use at their sub-par bakery next door. The lines and “lobby” were chaos in the morning because of this. I air quoted lobby because there really isn’t one. The rooms were ok. Felt like a cheap remodel which always looks better in photos. The bathrooms have no ventilation. Our bathroom grout was full of black mold and you could smell it. Not ideal when you’re paying an average of $400 a night. Housekeeping was also inconsistent. They only left waters in our room 2 out of the 6 nights we were there. Some days only giving us one wash cloth. On the 3rd day I tipped, wrote a note asking for extra wash clothes and the two water bottles (that are supposed to come daily), and they still failed to do so. We spent 3 of our evenings at The Wallace lounge enjoying happy hour and live jazz music. Wish we would have stayed there instead as it seems you actually get what you pay for. Next time! Overall, if you can get the rooms for under $200 a night I’d say it’s worth it.

The staff at this hotel are above and beyond nice. We were able to check in at noon which we very much appreciated. Both rooms we stayed in, however, were small and lacked basic things I thought would be standard in a hotel where we were playing $400 per night (like a refrigerator, microwave). The first room was so small it only had two king beds and one nightstand to share--no desks or countertops. The location is great however. Really close to an easy subway stop and walking distance to Central Park. The restaurant is great for a glass of wine and appetizers were delicious. The bakery is fabulous!
